Things To Do in Praa Sands

The Beach

A gloriously long white sandy beach is the focal point of Praa Sands and is very easily accessed from the properties within a few steps. It’s South facing, can be calm or have great surf depending on swells and has all the facilities you need for a day on the beach.

Dogs are allowed on the beach all year around with restrictions from Easter to October (before 7am and after 7pm), in the winter months our four legged friends are welcome all the time.

Local Amenities

If soaking in the sun with a beer and some food is your thing then you’ll enjoy Sand Bar. A decking overlooking the beach with great views makes this a go to spot for many, not just the Praa Sands locals. Regular live music, good Sunday roasts and a perfect place for post surf hot chocolate.

Praa Sands also has a couple of shops, cafes, a 9 hole golf course and a petrol station very nearby.

Surfing at Praa Sands

Praa Sands is undoubtedly one of the best spots in Cornwall. On its day you can expect barrelling punchy beach break waves and we can tell you from experience it is a really really fun place to surf!

Handling swells of all different sizes it isn’t just a beach for advanced surfers, learner surfers in the right conditions will still get waves. It’s best in big swells or Southerly swells and winds from NW to NE.

Dogs & Walks

This is a walkers haven. The SW Coast Path is merely a few steps from your front door, there are beach walks, coast walks, country walks, and circular walks.

Go East towards Rinsey or West towards the delightful Prussia Cove, either way you won’t be disappointed. Heading inland you will find mining ruins, fields, and open countryside.

Dogs are welcome here and our four legged friends will have no shortage of places to run. We allow dogs to stay for an extra £25.00 per doggy with a maximum of 2 dogs per property. We also ask that your doggys are not left in the property during the day.

Catch Dinner

With the Atlantic on your doorstep you might find dinner is too. Fresh mackerel or bass on the BBQ is hard to beat, from shore to plate in less than 25 meters!

We can advise on places to buy tackle and some of those lesser known spots to pass a morning or day.

If you have an unlucky day you can always fetch dinner from Newlyn, the UKs largest fishing port which is just 11 miles away.

Kayaking & SUP’ing

One of the joys of being located in West Cornwall is the number of coves on the North and South coast which are within easy reach. This is really handy when  you want to jump in the water, there is almost always somewhere suitable.

Kayaking around our coast is really enjoyable and with kayaks available to purchase and hire in Praa Sands it couldn’t be easier.

SUP’s are also available locally for both hire and purchase.

“A wonderful destination if you have hoards of kids to entertain, they’ll love the beach which is great for sand castles…”

“… the shoreline is great for splashing about in and you won’t have to drag miles from the car park. Also it’s a pretty good stop off point just for a coffee where you can sit back and soak up the fun seaside vibe.” Visit Cornwall
