A Day on St Michael's Mount...
Transport & Parking
Marazion can be reached by bus or by car, or a could 3 hour stomp along the coast path! Parking is across a choice of pay and display car parks, the closest to the slipway can get busy, so you may end up in one of the Folly Fields. Either way you won’t be too far away.
Getting to the Mount
There are two ways to cross to the Mount, boat or walk across the causeway. The boat takes 10 minutes but will get busy at high tide when the causeway is inaccessible. Please always take care to ensure you have enough time to cross the causeway.
On the Mount
It’s a fascinating island steeped in history. The gardens that open in summer are stunning, beautifully curated and capturing iconic views across Mounts Bay. The castle itself is also open to the public and we recommend a walk around, families will enjoy some of the activities like I Spy and the Treasure Quest.
Snacks and Shops
There are two places to eat on the Mount itself, Island Cafe and Sail Loft. Both have good wholesome food, coffee and drinks. Two gift shops on stock a range of local artisan products and take home treasures.
Eating in Marazion
Marazion has some great places to get food. For one of Cornwall’s best pasties, Philps is a must. The Godolphin Arms has a good pub menu and the most amazing views. Ben’s Kitchen steps it up with the food and presentation and is one West Cornwall’s best restaurants. Always worth booking in advance!
“We love staying in Praa Sands, the views and it’s convenience are perfect”
“Whilst we travel around more these days, if a property is vacant and it fits with our schedule, we’ll snap up the chance for a week in our old village. As we stay here ourselves we make sure the creature comforts are in place, so Brad’s got sharp knives and a BBQ so he can keep cooking and they are easily heated, which in winter is really handy!” Brad and Lindsey, Owners.
